Maryland Extends IFTA Waiver Due to Key Bridge Collapse.

May 31, 2024

On May 31 at the request of MMTA, Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman extended the temporary waiver of certain IFTA requirements in Maryland by 35 days to further mitigate the economic impact of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. The waiver, which was initially authorized through May 31, 2024, at 11:59 pm, will now remain in effect until July 5, 2024, at 11:59 pm. Maryland will continue to waive IFTA licensing and decal requirements for motor carriers hauling freight to or from a seaport.

Carriers meeting the requirements who do not have IFTA decals should retain a copy of the waiver in their vehicles. Copies are avialable at https://www.mdtrucking.org/files/05.31.24FSKBridgeIFTAWaiverExtensionNotification.pdf.
